Rohri, a tehsil in Sukkur district, is its capital. It is situated on the opposite bank to Sukkur, on the east bank of the Indus River. It is home to more than 250,000 people. Between Sukkur and Rohri is the Indus River. A beautiful bridge called the Lansdowne Bridge was built in 1888 to connect the two cities.

Rohri, once upon a time was not in the same place as it is now. However, a city called “Error”, was located six to seven miles north. It was close to the Indus River. In the eighth century, the Hindu king Dahir ruled the city. Muhammad bin Qasim defeated Raja Dahir in 714 and conquered Error.
In 946, Indus changed its course to flow closer towards the location of the island. This river deviation caused Error to flourish and people from Error migrated six to seven miles away to settle on the banks.
They settled in rocky terrain. In those days, the stone was known as “gravel”. This is why Naeem Basti’s name became Rori. It has since deteriorated. It is very old and contemporaneous with Thatta, Seon.
These cities were important centers for knowledge and mysticism during their time. It was constructed in its current form by Syed Rukn-ud-Din Shah in 1297.
Rohri, though a small community, is an important railway junction. It is Pakistan’s second-largest railway station. Here, sweets, dates, and millet are all very popular. Rohri is the largest cement plant in the city.
There are very few domestic industries. Relay and embroidery work is good. Many of the mosques are historic. The Jamia Masjid or Akbari Masjid was built in 1584 by Fateh Khan, the governor of Akbar. The mosque is located by the river and has three domes.
Mir Masoom Bakhri built the Aurangzeb Mosque in 1593. These mosques are known for their beautiful architecture. This area is home to several large bazaars, including Shahi Bazaar and Dhak Bazaar as well as Ansari Market, Lala Bazaar, and Dhak Bazaar.
Ata Hussain Shah maulvi Degree College is a leader in educational facilities. There are many model schools in the area, including Shaltif Town Hall and Government Girls High School.
This is where scholarly, literary, and cultural programs are held. This city promotes religious education in Madrasa Arabia Darul Uloom Sharia, Jamia Al Reza.
Rohri residents spend their holidays on the banks of the Indus River. It is a different experience to enjoy river cruises on boats at night. Recreational centers can also be found on the three Indus River islands, Khwaja Khidr and Sadh Belo, as well as Bukhara.
The ruins of Error are located five to six miles from the city. The city was conquered by Muhammad ibn Qasim and a mosque was built here, the remains of which have been discovered.
