Lahore (30 October 2025) – Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has officially approved a monthly stipend of Rs 25,000 for mosque Imams across Punjab, marking a major step toward recognizing the vital role of religious leaders in society.
The initiative aims to support Imams financially and enhance their living standards, particularly in rural and underprivileged areas where mosque leaders often serve without regular compensation.
According to the official statement, the Punjab government will allocate a special budget to implement the stipend scheme. The initiative will be executed under the Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department, ensuring fair and transparent distribution.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that Imams play a crucial role in promoting peace, tolerance, and social harmony. She stated,
“Our Imams are the backbone of our religious and social structure. This step ensures they receive the respect and financial stability they deserve.”
